Understanding and preparing for IELTS
Welcome to the Advanced IELTS Preparation program.
Understanding and preparing for IELTS
1. When you apply for immigration, you must prove your language skills by taking a language test approved by Immigration authorities. IELTS is one such English language test. IELTS means International English Language Testing System
2. There are various IELTS preparation centres around you. To search for them, go to google and type ” IELTS preparation centre in …(your city)… “.
3. This program requires you to undertake 8 weeks of preparation and 6 mock tests before taking the IELTS test. When you have sufficient command over the English language and you are aware of how to best approach the IELTS test; only then you should register to take IELTS exam at an IELTS centre near you. – To search for an IELTS centre near you, go to google and type ” IELTS centre near me”.
4. When you register for IELTS, do not ask for your language test results to be sent directly to Immigration Authorities
5. IELTS has two types of tests: “General Training” and “Academic”. (Usually, Immigration authorities ask for “General Training” in applications for Immigration, and “Academic” for Student applications).
IELTS Test format:
Listening 4 sections, around 40 questions 30 minutes + transfer time
Reading 3 sections, around 40 questions 60 minutes
Writing 2 tasks 60 minutes
Speaking 10 to 15 minutes
(Total test time 2 hours 45 minutes).
6. Keep your original test in your plastic folder file as explained earlier. The immigration authorities will ask for it.
7. Your test results must be recent and valid (less than two years old). If your test results expire soon, you should re-take the test and update your application with your new test results.
8. Further details can be found on the lessons that follow.
